Education work taster morning

Friday 10th September 10 am -1pm

The education work with schools at the cathedral is growing in capacity and reputation – we have recently been awarded the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Award.  Our team of volunteers is led by Janet Ingram and supported by the Canon Chancellor. We now need to extend our team of volunteers with more people from across the diocese.

We are providing a taster morning for potential volunteers when we will explain what we do, offer the chance to meet some of the current team and explain how we offer support and training.

Attendance does not commit you to anything as we would need to discern with you whether this is appropriate and then tailor what you can offer with what we also need. If possible please let us know if you plan to come along by ringing 0116 248 7468.

Held Together Pilgrimage

2011 marks the 200th anniversary of the National Society.

‘This was founded in 1811 with a vision to educate the largest possible number of young people from all backgrounds based on the Christian Gospel as understood by the Church of England’. It is a legacy to be proud of and cherished by all local communities. The National Society’s story is worth retelling to a new generation.

It is a story of faith, vision and determination

For attention of school governors

The Leicester Diocesan Board of Education has sent out a Service Agreement to all 98 church schools . This reflects the determination of the staff at the Board of Education to continue the highly valued and extensive service offered to church schools. Initial consultation revealed a significant number of schools would subscribe to such an agreement in order to maintain, and even improve, the level of service offered. You can view the full agreement on the Board of Education pages of the diocesan website, or by clicking here

Certain areas of support will still be available free of charge to all schools. The cost of the agreement has been kept as low as possible in the hope that all of our church schools will wish to participate.

Mary will take up her appointment at Easter 2010.
