Extravaganza of Wedding Anniversary Flowers and Wedding Dresses – Ratby Church

Event date: September 11th-13th

Displays of wedding anniversary flowers also wedding dresses, modern and yesteryear. Saturday 10am-5pm; 6-8pm Complimentary drink & musical accompaniment. Sunday 12noon-5pm with a Wedding Celebration Service at 4pm. Monday 10am-4pm

Heritage Open Day

Event Date: Saturday 11th September

Thurcaston & Cropston Local History Society – celebrating its 10th Anniversary with a Heritage Open Day. The venues open for this occasion, from 10am to 4pm, are All Saints’ Church, Anstey Lane and the Methodist Church, Mill Lane, both in Thurcaston and the Evangelical Free Church in Cropston. This community event is to promote the history of the churches, as well as the two villages, with exhibits, village trails and a quiz. Entrance to all venues is free and refreshments will be available. The date coincides with the Leicestershire Historic Churches’ Trust Annual Ride & Stride event in which All Saints’ Church is listed as being open from 10am to 6pm

Family (not very) Quiet Day

Event Date: Saturday 11th September

at Rearsby Convent. A day for families to spend time together and get closer to God. Plenty of activity and fun – with some quiet moments scattered through the day – and rounded off with the usual water fight!

Festival of Flowers – Gaddesby Church

Event Date:  17th to 19th September
‘All Good Gifts Around Us’ – a festival of flowers to celebrate harvest-tide is being held at St. Luke’s Church Gaddesby from Friday, 17th to Sunday, 19th September 10.30am to 5pm.   Stalls and refreshments. Admission £2.

Cropper/Welsh/Roscoe Piano Trio

Event Date: Friday 17th September

Peter Cropper, Moray Welsh and Martin Roscoe make a welcome return to Oakham, with their unique blend of informality and exceptional musicianship. Their passion for music is clear in their hugely entertaining and high energy performances. They’ll perform Haydn’s Piano Trio in A, No. 18, Mozart’s Piano Trio in E, K542 and Mendelssohn’s Piano Trio in D minor, op. 49. A Music in the Round concert.

Creative Hobbies Day

Event Date: Saturday 18th September

There will be a Creative Hobbies Day at St. Michael and All Angels Church, Fenny Drayton on 18th September 11.00 a.m. – 2.00 p.m. All are welcome. There will be craft workshops for children in card making and floristry, photofixing to take out blemishes, displays and crafts for sale, refreshments and a garden on a plate competition. Entries for the competition must be in Church at 10.00 a.m. on the day.

‘Create a Mandala’ Arts and Spirituality Workshop

Event Date: Saturday 18th September

10am-4pm. St. Philip’s Church, Evington Rd, Leicester, LE2 1HN.
South Indian Christian Cross-cultural artist Jyoti Sahi will lead a day on creating a Mandala, which is a spiritual symbolic painting. Open to everyone, with or without an artistic background. All materials ae provided. It will be a fascinating day for exploring spirituality and art.

New Wine Prophecy Training Day

Event Date: Saturday September 18th

10am – 4pm  Holy Trinity Leicester will be hosting a New Wine Prophecy Training Day.  Anne Coles from New Wine will be joining us to explore the gift of prophesy.  The day is open to those who think they have this gift and to those who would like to develop it.  We will cover; why prophecy is important? How to handle prophecy with wisdom; Understanding the God speaks to us as well as an opportunity to complete some practical exercises.  The cost of the day will be £12 and delegates are asked to bring a packed lunch.  Please pass this information to those in your congregations to whom you think it may be relevant.

World’s Biggest Coffee Morning

Event Date: Friday 24th September

Come along and bring a smile and help The Church of the Nativity raise money in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. Join us in the schoolrooms between 10am – 12 Noon. Admission 50p. Various stalls – bric a brac, books, cakes, raffle etc.

Centenary Organ Concert

Event Date: Saturday 25th September

The concert planned to celebrate our hundred years will take place at 7.00pm. at St Margaret’s Parish Church Leicester. Those taking part are, Jonathan Gregory ( Leicester Cathedral), Geoffrey Carter (Humberstone Parish Church) , Ian Imlay (who celebrates his fiftieth year as organist of St Nicholas), Andrew McMillan (Hinckley Baptist Church), two students who have received a Bursary award from the Ernest & Dorothy Chester Memorial Fund, the Hon Sec., and Theo Saunders ( Armagh Cathedral). The programme will be available later .

Green Fair – St.Catherine’s Church, Burbage

Event Date:  Saturday 25th September
From 10am -3pm. Stalls to include wildlife/conservation groups, local produce, fairly traded goods, home-made refreshments and children’s activities

Special Harvest Service, Evington

Event Date: Sunday 26th September

St Denys Church Evington at 4.00pm. We are combining Back to Church Sunday with our Harvest Festival and having a special service at 4.00pm followed by tea in the church. We have cancelled our other services on the day so that all our regular worshippers can be there to welcome the visitors. Everyone is welcome.

Flower Festival, Hinckley

Event Date: Friday 1st October

As part of our centenary celebrations a Flower Festival is to be held in Holy Trinity Church, Hinckley LE10 0AJ
 
The theme of the festival is ‘Reflections on the Century 1910 – 2010′
 
The event will take place over a four day period Friday 1st October to Monday 4th October.
The festival will be open between 10.30 am and 4.0pm on Friday, Saturday and Monday and between 1.0pm and 5.0pm on Sunday

100 years of Crusaders & Urban Saints in Leicestershire

Event Date: Saturday 2nd October

Arts and Crafts Exhibition, Nanpantan

The Church of Saint Mary in Charnwood, Nanpanton, Loughborough, will be holding an exhibition of arts and crafts by their talented congregation, it will be open from 10am to 4pm. Tea, coffee and cake will be served through out the day. Free admission, with exhibits for sale. All proceeds for Church funds.
