Bishop Simon Makundi has just retired. Pray for him and Martha as they move to their own house and for the synod in September to elect a new bishop. Bishop Isaiah Chambala of Kiteto has emailed to say that his father is seriously ill. Please pray for the bishop and his family.

Rev Adrian Whitehall and his wife Ruth – a clinical psychologist – and their dog have gone to St Margaret’s Moshi initially on a short-term CMS contract to replace David and Elaine Macha, They have be in the UK at their home in Duffield (just north of Derby) in AUGUST for a family occasion. They would welcome the chance to visit in our diocese churches wishing to promote or strengthen links with DMK. To pursue this please contact at CMS:

Loughborough 18 year olds Emma Micciche and Sabrina Mistry – recent students at Rawlins Community College Quorn – spent 10 weeks as teaching assistants at Kiteto Christian College. They received a small grant from the DMK/K link budget to supplement their own fundraising to meet their expenses. Emma writes of their time in Tanzania

Bishop Isaiah of Kiteto is coming to the UK: He has accepted the invitation to be at the 2010 Archbishop’s Conference for new bishops – January 27 – February 4. It is hoped that he will also visit Leicester either before or after.

“Greetings once again from Arua. It’s a sunny Saturday morning here, but we have been blessed with much rain recently and the grounds of Kuluva
Hospital where we live are green and alive with new growth. As we sit in our house we can hear ‘slashers’ just along the hillside, cutting down the tall grass with long
blades that are swung from side to side in what always looks like a dangerous motion that risks cutting the bare toes of the slasher. They talk and laugh together as they
work in the hot sun – the good humour of people asked to do laborious and repetitive tasks here is amazing”.
