Renaming of St. Alban’s Church

At a service of the Eucharist (Mass) on Sunday 5th September at 4pm Bishop Christopher, Assistant Bishop of Leicester, will rename St. Alban’s Church, ‘The Church of The Resurrection’ so that Parish and Parish Church share the same dedication. At the service, Bishop Christopher will also Baptise new Christians and Confirm those further along their faith journey. This is a big and joyful day in the life of the people of The Parish of The Resurrection who seek to develop their work of Christian service throughout the parish, amongst all peoples without distinction, and for whom their parish church is the ‘power house’ from which, in the growing company of Christians with whom they pray and worship, they move into and amongst the communities that make up the parish witnessing to the love of God by active care and compassion. For our developing Christian community this is a day and a celebration of ‘New Life’: a confirmation of our confident looking forward in faith!

This change will not affect our Community Centre which will remain ‘St. Alban’s Community Centre’.

All friends of the Parish and the Parish Church are welcome to join us for the celebration!

Racial Justice Sunday Service

The Leicester Diocesan Forum for Ethnic Minority Anglicans work for racial justice in the Diocese of Leicester, Leicestershire and beyond. We aim to make a real difference in the Christian community and far beyond by raising awareness, encouraging effective working together. Every year on the second Sunday in September Racial Justice Sunday  is celebrated which is an opportunity for all Christians in Britain and Ireland to focus their worship, prayer and action on racial justice by:

  • Celebrating human diversity.
  • Rejoicing in how far God’s people have travelled together.
  • ·        Recognising that there is much further to go both in the Church and in the world.

Our aims are:

  • To raise awareness and deepen understanding of the diversity of culture and experience both in society and in the church.
  • To become more inclusive, outward-looking and welcoming within the Diocese, Leicestershire and beyond.
  • To encourage all Christians and the people of Leicestershire to tackle injustice, not ignore it.

Would you please remembers racial justice issues and help us work for a church and society which reflects God’s creation. And please download the poster to advertise this event in your area  -  Poster.pdf

Racial Justice Sunday this year will take place on 12th September.  A Service has been arranged at Leicester Cathedral, St. Martin’s East Leicester to take place at 4 pm. Our preacher will be the Ven. Danny Kajumba, Archdeacon of Reigate, who is also the chair of the Committee for Minority Ethnic Anglican Concerns for Archbishop’ Council. We request your presence and participation in the service to support the racial justice and to encourage presence and involvement of people of ethnic minority in our diocese and social life. Please do advertise this in your churches and encourage people to attend.  We look forward to welcome you.

Service Cover in Framland

Request from Anna Raine in the South West Framland cluster of parishes with Revd Martin Dale and Revd Susan Leighton.

I am writing to ask if any priest may be able to help cover some of Revd Susan’s services in the next few months.  Her father is terminally ill, and she would like the opportunity to visit him whenever possible.

At present she would like someone to preach for the following services:

February 7th

8.30am                 Holy Communion             Gaddesby

10.30am               Holy Communion             South Croxton

March 7th

8.30am                 Holy Communion             South Croxton

10.30am               Holy Communion             Gaddesby

It would be ideal if the person could also take the Holy communion service as well, just in case Susan is called away at the last minute.

Many thanks and Best regards,

 Anna Raine.

If you are able to help please contact Anna at clusteradmin@btinternet.com
