Benefice Changes

Pastoral Measure, Parish of the Resurrection.

The church of Saint Gabriel, and the church of  Saint Peter, Belgrave, being two of the three parish churches of the parish of The Resurrection, Leicester, in the diocese of Leicester, shall be declared closed for regular public worship.

The Church Commissioners confirm that the provisions of the Pastoral Measure 1983 relating to the preparation of the attached Pastoral Scheme have been duly complied with. The Scheme has therefore been made by the Commissioners and will come into effect from the 28th day of June 2010.  Please see the attachment for full details of the Pastoral Measure.

Benefice Changes

The Church Commissioners have announced that with effect from 1st May 2010 the benefice of Newbold de Verdun and Kirkby Mallory and the benefice of Barlestone in the diocese of Leicester shall be united to create a new benefice which shall be named “The Benefice of Newbold de Verdun, Barlestone and Kirkby Mallory”, benefice number 20410, and the area of the new benefice shall, subject to clause1 hereof, comprise the parish of Newbold de Verdun; the parish of Kirkby Mallory; and the parish of Barlestone, which parishes shall continue distinct.

Clause 1
Alteration of areas of parishes

1.             The areas of the parishes of Barlestone; Nailstone; Newbold de Verdun; Market Bosworth, Cadeby with Sutton Cheney and Congerstone; Thornton, Bagworth and Stanton under Bardon; and Kirkby Mallory shall be altered in the manner described in the Schedule to this Scheme and delineated on the annexed maps A and B.

New Benefice Details

The Benefice of Saint John, Hinckley

Dear all,

The Church Commissioners have announced that with effect from the 1st February 2010, a new benefice which shall be named the “The Benefice of Saint John, Hinckley” shall be created in the diocese of Leicester, and the area of the new benefice, which shall constitute a new parish and be named “The Parish of Saint John, Hinckley”, shall be all that part of the parish of Holy Trinity, Hinckley which is shown stippled and lettered “A” on the attached map.

The Scheme also makes provision for

•  the Team Ministry (known as “The Hinckley West – Holy Trinity with Saint John Team Ministry”) which was established for the benefice of Holy Trinity, Hinckley  to be dissolved;
• the prospective parish church of the new parish of Saint John, Hinckley;
• the appointment of the first incumbent of the new benefice and his place of  residence;
• the future patronage arrangements for the new benefice
