Nearly everyday children come to HMP Leicester to visit their dads/ brothers/ uncles or Granddads. The experience can be daunting. To make the visit easier the Chaplaincy has teamed up with the Mothers Union to make kitted teddies for the children to play with whilst in the Prison Visits Hall and to take home with them, to help them to have positive memories of their day.

We need your help, the teddies take less than an evening to knit, but they mean so much to the children. The pattern is below, could you or your group help?

Completed teddies are being collected at the Mothers Union office in Church House, opening hours are: Tues, Wed & Fri 9.30-12.30 am. Address: 5 St Martins East, Leicester LE1 5FX

The trip is attracting attention from King’s College London who have asked if they can send a researcher with us. Obviously participation in the research is purely voluntary, and would not involve under 18s without parental consent..

Sorry, old joke! It’s really a note about cricket!

Ever watched any cricket? Ever thrown and/or caught a ball? Ever hit anything in a sporting like way?

If the answer is yes to any of these, then you are just what the diocesan cricket team needs!

We play a short ‘Church Times Cup; only season (4 group matches & hopefully a quarter final), between May and early July. Diocesan pride & a small plastic trophy are up for grabs. We promise a great team spirit, curled up sandwiches & a chance to meet fellow church workers from across the diocese. Lack of ability is not an inhibitor, although former county professionals & ex-England players are also welcome. Players need to either be ordained, licensed for any ministry or a license or work fulltime for any church.
